Every year NGS gardens across England and Wales welcome about 750,000 visitors. Most gardens which open for the NGS are privately owned and open just a few times each year. Some gardens open as part of a group with the whole community involved. The gardens give all the money raised directly to us (including from the sale of teas and plants); the only exceptions being in some cases they ask that a small proportion goes to a nominated local charity.

Our tradition of opening gardens of quality, character and interest is supported by our Patron, HRH The Prince of Wales.

Did you know that we currently give away more than £2.5 million each year to nursing, caring and gardening charities and we have given them a total more than £25 million in the last 15 years. Our office and overheads are small and most of the work is done by volunteers in our county teams and so currently more than 80p in every £1 raised at garden openings goes directly to our beneficiaries.

＜設立主旨＞

東京都においては、都市化の進展にともなない、緑の量の減少、緑の成育環境の悪化、そしてヒートアイランド現象が年々進行しています。一本一本の樹木を観察すると、病害虫の被害を受けたり、樹勢が衰退して倒木や枝折れが発生したりする恐れのある危険樹が少なくありません。さらに、都市景観や都市環境の基盤となる緑の質が、不適切な管理や管理費の削減などにより低下しつつあります。
うるおい豊かな東京のまちづくりのためには、生活の場に緑を増やす努力や緑を健全に育てる努力が欠かせません。その一助として、今ある緑の診断や保全、樹勢回復などへの取り組みを強化して、危険樹の早期発見やそれらへの対応などが求められています。
わたしたちは、樹木医が有する知識と技術を活用し、緑に関心を示す市民や行政とも連携して、身近な緑を健全に育みながら安全で健全な社会を築き、市民が健康で安心して暮らせ、うるおい豊かな生活環境を享受できる社会の実現のためにNPO法人を設立しました。樹木を主とした緑を対象とした様々な活動を積極的に進めることで、うるおい豊かな東京のまちづくりを目指します。

かつて私たちは、豊かな自然と多様な生き物を身近に感じ、その恵みから日々の糧を得ながら暮らしてきました。それはまさしく、人と自然の持続可能な関係でした。地球環境の危機が叫ばれ、持続可能な社会のあり方が問い直されている今、私たちはもっと自然とふれあい、その声に耳を傾ける必要があるのではないでしょうか。 樹木・環境ネットワーク協会は、そんな思いをもつ人々が集うＮＰＯ法人です。「人と自然が調和する持続可能な社会」を実現するためには、まず自然の大切さを実感し、物質的・経済的豊かさだけでは得られない本当の豊かさに気づくことが大切だと考え、「森を守る」「人を育てる」「森と人を繋ぐ」をテーマとした様々な活動を展開しています。 ひとりひとりの思いを集め、カタチにするために集う場所でありたい。当協会の「聚（しゅう、「集」の旧字体）」という愛称には、そんな思いが込められています。あなたもぜひその思いを、私たちに、森に、社会に、届けてください。

Up to the year 2009, International Florist Organisation Florint was named the “European Federation of Professional Florists’ Associations" (FEUPF in short). This federation was founded way back in 1956, in Strasbourg. The founders were a number of National Florists’ Associations that worried about the possible threats of the advancing European integration. On the other hand they simultaneously saw opportunities as well, if they proved able to create and intensify cooperation between their associations at the European level.

Nowadays, Florint organizes and politically represents the national Florist Associations of 20+ European countries. Membership applications of various other countries, outside Europe as well, are currently pending.

Florint thus represents a relatively small, but in no way negligible part of European industry: about 100.000 European florists together generate a total turnover of more than 15 billion Euros. More than 350.000 people earn their living in a flower shop, of which 150.000 are estimated to be paid employees.
