国際的なサトイモ愛好団体

As most of you know the SRGC and all its activities are run by unpaid volunteers who give generously of their time and their skills in many different ways so that all our members can share their knowledge and enthusiasm. A typical example of this is the work that Fred Carrie, Ian and Maggi Young do in running this marvellous website which enables all our members, far and near, to keep in touch as well as sharing a wealth of knowledge about rock garden plants with a worldwide public. I don't need to tell you how good it is for you know that already. But all three of them spend countless hours every week of the year keeping the show on the road. So a big thank you to them, as well as to all the contributors. Lang may your lum reek.

I have chosen to highlight the work of Fred, Ian and Maggi as an example of what volunteers can and do achieve in our Club. But there are many, many others who work just as hard in producing the Journal, running the Seed Exchange and the Shows, doing the day to day administration, producing exhibitions, giving talks - the list is endless. So if you think you would like to help share the workload or if you have ideas about how we can expand our activities or do things better, please get in touch with me, either through the website or by e-mailing me at liz.saline@hotmail.co.uk

Lastly, I'm looking forward to having lots of fun over the next three years visiting all the Groups and attending all the Shows where I know I'll see lots of wonderful plants. But, best of all will be the chat with friends old and new, both in person and over the internet, happy in the knowledge that you all share my love of the mountains and their wee plants.

NARGS is for gardening enthusiasts interested in alpine, saxatile, and low-growing perennials. It encourages the study and cultivation of wildflowers that grow well among rocks, whether such plants originate above treeline or at lower elevations. Through its publications, meetings, and garden visits, NARGS provides extensive opportunities for both beginners and experts to expand their knowledge of plant cultivation and propagation, and of construction, maintenance, and design of special interest gardens. Woodland gardens, bog gardens, raised beds, planted walls, container gardens, and alpine berms are all addressed.

【About】
The Cyclamen Society exists to encourage cultivation and conservation, and to disseminate and extend knowledge of the genus Cyclamen and its species, forms and cultivars. It combines scientific study with all the activities of a society for enthusiasts who cultivate the plants.
The Society was formed in England in January 1977 and now has over 1600 members. Although it is based in the United Kingdom, it has a world-wide membership with nearly 20% from outside the UK, spread across Europe (9.7%), North America (5%), South America, South Africa, Australia (2.7%), New Zealand (1%), China, Japan (2.8%) and the countries of the former USSR
